Vessels – Face/Nose (Telangiectasias)
What Are Telangiectasia?
Telangiectasia are small unsightly red, purple or blue blood vessels found along the surface of the skin on the face, upper chest, neck and rarely on other parts of the body. Similar vessels are found on the legs nicknamed “spider veins”. These vessels are not necessary for any essential body function and removing them gives a more pleasing cosmetic appearance.
Causes of Telanglactasia
Many things contribute to their cause including heredity, sun, damage, Acne Rosacea, hot and spicy foods, exercise, hormones, emotions, cortisone medications and some rare skin diseases. Whatever the cause, most of us enjoy better self esteem without them. Due to the varying degrees and locations of these vessels, a dermatological assessment will reveal what treatment protocol is indicated.
Telanglactasia Treatment Options
In most cases, vascular lasers such as IPL, V-Beam and Vasculight AND our newest laser, the Fotona Dynamis provide the best treatment options as they offer very little risk for scarring, minimal discomfort and virtually no down time. For optimal results, individual treatment plans include regular office visits until desired results are achieved. Your treatment takes approximately 30-45 minutes with most patients returning to work immediately afterwards. Then, periodic maintenance is required to maintain your results as this can be a life-long challenge.
It is important to plan your appointments as to limit sun exposure immediately following any laser treatment and you MUST NOT HAVE A TAN PRIOR TO ANY LASER TREATMENT to avoid hyper pigmentation or even scarring.
