What is Nose Reshaping?
Our nose is our most prominent facial features as it lies in the center of our face and is one of the main areas of focus when communicating with others. Unfortunately, some asymmetries, disharmonies, past surgeries or injuries may draw unwanted attention. Many are unhappy with the appearance of their nose as a result of these issues, and may also include birth defects or even genetics. Previously, rhinoplasty was the only option to repair nasal flaws. But patients are reluctant to proceed with treatment due to cost, along with the painful and lengthy recovery time plus the high percentage of unhappy results. However, many nose challenges can be greatly improved with injectable hyaluronic acid fillers on an outpatient basis. Fillers can, by the skilled injector, reshape and contour the nose and in many cases correct the drooping acute angle of the nose. In addition to improving the cosmetic appearance, re-creating the support and strut work of the external nasal values greatly improves nose breathing, and can improve snoring.
Not every nose is amenable to the contouring effects of fillers within the confines of proper nasal proportion. The length, width and shape of the nose is determined by many factors; including genetics, ethnicity, past injury and surgery. Creating a nose shape with the proper length and width for each individual patient requires all to understand that a little difference in anatomy makes a big difference in appearance. Potential patients almost always think that adding fillers to their nose will make it bigger – “fillers create more volume right”? Performed correctly, the ideal nose restoration is one that no one will notice.
Nose Reshaping Treatments
Dramatic improvement can be seen after only one treatment session. Topical numbing cream is applied prior to the treatments making the nose restoration project much less uncomfortable. A touch-up treatment may be recommended 4-6 weeks after the first session. Maintenance for the best improvement is minimal and many patients may not need a touch up for 2 years.
