- The AHC “Opt-in” no longer applies at Remington Laser Dermatology Centre. We do direct bill Alberta Health Care. We accept Cash, Visa, MasterCard, Debit for all cosmetic services and services not covered by Alberta Health Care.
- As a CONSULTANT DERMATOLOGIST it is our function to treat skin problems that cannot be diagnosed or successfully treated by your personal Physician. It is essential that every new patient be referred by a physician because in many cases the problem can be handled by them. A new referral is also required if it has been more than one year since your last visit to our office. Cosmetic patients, such as BOTOX COSMETIC®, wrinkles and baggy eyelids do not require a referral.
- Patients who come from outside the Province of Alberta are also personally responsible for paying their own accounts. We will send the appropriate form to your Health Care Insurance Company for reimbursement to you. If the visit and treatment is covered by your Health Care Plan you will be reimbursed exactly the same as Alberta patients. Additional charges not covered by Health Care Plans may apply in some specialty treatments. In almost all cases the fee we charge and the amount you will be reimbursed from your health plan will match perfectly.
- If it is necessary to cancel an appointment, please do so at least 24 hours before your appointment time. There are always emergency patients to be seen and canceled appointments enable us to accommodate them.
All of the lasers are very expensive to own, operate and maintain. Almost all of the laser treatments are considered cosmetic procedures or an “enhanced procedure” and are therefore not covered by Health Care Plans in North America. Payment is the responsibility of the patient or the patient’s family.
