Q-Switched Laser Treatment for the Removal of Pigmented Lesions: The Q-Switched laser is a special form of laser surgery that selectively removes the excessive brown to black pigment from cutaneous lesions such as flat moles, sun induced brown spots, cafe au lait lesions, certain pigmented birth marks, and some facial melasma.

This laser light uses a selected combination of wave lengths and pulse durations to destroy the pigment within the skin lesion and not your regular skin color. The Q-Switched YAG has been developed for removing pigmented lesions in darkly pigmented patients without interfering with the normal skin color.

Q-Switched laser procedure:

  1. Topical anesthetic may be used.  Topical anesthetic such as EMLA is a topical agent applied by patients two hours prior to your treatment.
  2. The surgery is performed with one of the Q-Switched lasers, and an immediate gray to white color appears at the site of the treatment. This is temporary.
  3. Topical Polysporin cream is applied to the treated area and a topical dressing may be used.
  4. More than one session may be required. For some lesions, treatment is like taking off layers of a cake and will require repeat treatments.

Payment for Q-Switched laser therapy:
Q-Switched lasers are very expensive to own, operate and maintain. The cost of your treatment is your personal responsibility. Payment is to be made at the time of the laser surgery.  The terms are cash, certified cheque, money order, Visa or Mastercard. This is a cosmetic procedure not covered by Health Care or Blue Cross.

THE REMINGTON LASER CENTRE HAS 3 Q-SWITCHED LASERS (Q-SWITCHED-532; Q-SWITCHED ALEX; AND Q-SWITCHED YAG.)
