Aging Neck

Aging Neck
April 24, 2015

As we mature, the neck undergoes degenerative changes due to aging, accumulated sun exposure, weight gain, and genetic predilection.
The skin becomes lax forming multiple unwanted horizontal wrinkles. Vertical bands also become more prominent due repetitive contraction with talking, eating, and various facial expressions.

It is the contraction of these muscles in combination with aging and photo damage that lead to the appearance of the “turkey neck” that patients dislike.
Until recently, the only choice for rejuvenation of the neck and facial jowls was with invasive surgical intervention. Surgery was often discouraged in many patients due to high cost, lengthy recuperation times and poor mental or physical health.  Although the aging neck continues to present treatment challenges, combination treatments with Facial muscle relaxers / neuromodulators (BOTOX COSMETIC®, Dysport™, Xeomin™) along with laser therapy have shown promising results.

Treatment Options:
Facial Muscle Relaxers / Neuromodulators (BOTOX COSMETIC®, Dysport™, Xeomin™)
Lasers (Photorejuvenation – Intense Pulsed Light  (IPL))
